 2012 JUNIOR RANKING REGULATIONS

OVERVIEWThe Nebraska Tennis Association uses a Points Per Round Ranking System (PPR) to annually rank junior players and publish Annual Standing Lists by division.  A player earns ranking points by winning singles and/or doubles matches in USTA sanctioned tournaments held in the Nebraska District for each ranking year. The ranking year shall be January 1st through December 31st.

NEBRASKA DISTRICT. The Nebraska District is comprised of the State of Nebraska and Pottawattamie County, Iowa.

JUNIOR RANKING REGULATIONS (Boys'/Girls' 10, 12, 14, 16, and 18 age Divisions)  The Points Per Round (PPR) System will be used.  In this system a player receives a set amount of points in each tournament that he/she participates in according to the highest level of the draw that the player attains. All sanctioned events to include endorsement tournaments in the District of Nebraska will use the most recent Missouri Valley Standings (combine doubles and singles) list to base seedings on. The Missouri Valley Standings list will be used instead of the Missouri Valley Nebraska Standings list for more accuracy. All Nebraska sanctioned events are required to use auto seeding, unless no information is provided from that process.   The regulations for PPR are:
  1. A player must win a round to receive any points for the tournament.  Byes do not qualify as wins.
  2. Withdrawals and walkovers qualify as wins for the advancing player and earn PPR.
  3. Retirements qualify as wins for the advancing player and earn PPR.
  4. A player who is defaulted from a tournament for code violations under the PPS or misconduct forfeits any points accumulated during the tournament.
  5. Annual ranking will be calculated based on a player's five Best Tournaments played within Nebraska during the calendar year, January through December (i.e. A player plays 10 USTA sanctioned tournaments within Nebraska, the PPR System will take that player's five best tournament results based on how he or she finishes in a draw).  There will be two levels of tournaments.  Level 1 Tournaments are the Endorsements and Sectional events held within the State of Nebraska and Team Events.  Level 2 Tournaments are all other NTA Tournaments.
  6. At the end of the ranking year, a Standing List will be produced based on the player's five Best Tournaments.
  7. A player must participate in a minimum of three tournaments in the same age division and event to be eligible for ranking.  One of the tournaments must be located in Area 1 and one must be located in Area 2.  Area 1 is all of the Nebraska District except for the Omaha and Lincoln Metropolitan Areas as defined in the Adult Ranking Regulations previously mentioned.
  8. To obtain a Nebraska State Doubles Ranking, a player must play in at least 2 sanctioned tournaments within one age group, one in Area 1 (all tournaments held outside of Omaha or Lincoln) and one in Area 2 (tournaments held within Omaha or Lincoln).  A player may play in as many tournaments as they wish, points for ranking will be given to the top five tournaments, within an age division, they finish in by points, they will only get a ranking by playing in at least one tournament from each of the 2 areas.  Players are not required to play with the same partner in order to obtain a ranking.  Doubles Rankings are by individuals, not teams.
Age Division 10 Ranking Regulations
  1. Tournament participation requirement is that a player must play in two USTA sanctioned or NTA authorized events, unless fewer than five events are offered during the year, then the Junior Competition Committee may determine to use one tournament for ranking criteria.
